Schonnebeck misses out on first place, Frintrop gets torn apart

There were only three games in the Oberliga Niederrhein on Sunday, but they produced plenty of goals.

At first glance, not much was happening: there were only three games in the Oberliga Niederrhein on Sunday, but they were all exciting.

For example, for SpVg Schonnebeck. With a home win against FC Büderich, coach Dirk Tönnies’ team could have moved to within one point of league leaders Ratingen 04/19, with one game in hand. But things turned out differently. Although the “Swallows” managed to secure a 2-2 draw in the last minute, they missed out on closing the gap on the top spot. This was a great opportunity for Ratingen to pull away at the top of the league. The second Essen club in action on Sunday fared much worse. Adler Union Frintrop went down 1-7 at SC St. Tönis. Luca Esposito (12th), Tyler Nkamanyi (14th), and Dominik Dohmen (16th) had practically sealed the deal after just over a quarter of an hour. Yannick Reiners initially seemed to put things into perspective by scoring the 1-3 from Adler’s point of view (23rd minute). But Julian Florez (37th minute), Kohei Nakano (48th minute), Edward Lomotey (83rd minute) and Florez again (88th minute) drove the score up and made the debacle complete for Adler Union Frintrop.

Frintrop is sixteenth in the table and still in acute danger of relegation. SC St. Tönis, on the other hand, is stabilizing in the middle of the table and is ninth.

Points Table

In the third game of the day, FC Monheim defeated newly promoted Holzheimer SG 3-1, after trailing 0-1. Oguz Ayan had scored the goal (61′). But Aleksandar Bojkovski (75th minute), Kameron Blasie (81st minute), and Leonard Bajraktari (93rd minute) turned the game around in FC Monheim’s favor.

Monheim has thus made a leap up the table and is now in eleventh place. Holzheim is one place behind in twelfth, with the same number of points and identical goal difference.
