Seventh game in a row without a win! Adler Frintrop down and out, the bottom team scores

Saturday in the Oberliga Niederrhein had a lot to offer—even at the bottom of the table.

Adler Union Frintrop continues to fight against direct relegation to the Landesliga in the Oberliga Niederrhein. However, the bitter 1-2 defeat against FC Monheim did not help.

The Frintrop team got off to a good start. Chances were few and far between in the early stages, but Monheim struck after 20 minutes. Monheim’s attack broke down the Frintrop defense with a neat one-two. Tom Hirsch’s finish was then a formality – 1-0 (23′).

Frintrop continued to play well, but went into the break 0-1 down. After 53 minutes, Talha Demir made it 2-0 for Monheim with a long-range shot. Dominik Stukator pulled one back for the Eagles after 69 minutes, but it wasn’t enough.

With their seventh consecutive game without a win, the Eagles remain third from bottom and in acute danger of relegation.

Points Table

SV Biemenhorst, currently bottom of the table, were also in action this Saturday. Joshua Müller put SVB ahead against TSV Meerbusch after 49 minutes. Micah Cain equalized for TSV Meerbusch in the 58th minute, and despite heavy pressure and a yellow-red card for Biemenhorst’s Noah Brucksteg in the 74th minute, TSV Meerbusch was unable to break the 1-1 deadlock. In the third match of the day, KFC Uerdingen defeated SpVg Schonnebeck in the top game. After 66 minutes, Ole Päffgen was in exactly the right place in the penalty area and slotted the ball into the net. But just six minutes later, Schonnebeck came within a hair’s breadth of finding an answer. Substitute Lennon Jung found himself free in the penalty area. Nedzhib Hadzha made a desperate sliding tackle to save the day and deflected the ball over the goal.

But Schonnebeck was running out of time. With no equalizer coming in the five minutes of added time, KFC Uerdingen ultimately took home the hugely important 1-0 victory. KFC remains in third place, but can overtake Schonnebeck with a win in their postponed match against Ratingen. Conversely, the league leaders can create some breathing room at the top with a win.
