The state cups always offer third division teams a good chance to advance to the DFB Cup. A lot happened on Saturday, November 15.
Things got heated in the state cups on Saturday, November 15. For example, at 1. FC Gievenbeck, who wanted to cause a big upset against SC Verl in the Westphalia Cup. But the third division team did not show any weakness against the Oberliga team.
Fabian Witt had even put 1. FCG in the lead after 41 minutes. Ultimately, however, Fynn Otto (45th minute), Dominik Steczyk (60th minute), and Alessio Besio (67th and 77th minutes) made sure of the result. This means that SC Verl is through to the semifinals.
The result was also clear at Hansa Rostock, who were guests at Verbandsliga club Prenzliner SV in the Mecklenburg Cup. Emil Holten (27th minute), Paul Stock (38th and 40th minutes) and Tim Krohn (59th and 79th minutes) ultimately sealed the deal, sending Rostock through to the quarterfinals with a commanding 5-0 victory.
Erzgebirge Aue, on the other hand, struggled. The third division team ultimately managed a 1-0 victory against Regionalliga Nordost top club Lokomotive Leipzig. Marcel Bär scored the goal of the day after 42 minutes. Aue is now a quarterfinalist in the Saxony Cup.

In addition, regional league team SV Babelsberg gave FC Energie Cottbus a run for their money in the Brandenburg State Cup. In the end, however, Cottbus emerged victorious with a 4-2 win. This means that the Lusatians advance to the semifinals of the Brandenburg State Cup.
On Friday, there was already a spectacular duel in the Bavarian Cup. FC Ingolstadt and SSV Jahn Regensburg, two third-division teams, faced each other in the quarterfinals. And it was set to be a dramatic encounter.
Jonas Scholz equalized for FC Ingolstadt in the 74th minute after Regensburg had taken a 1-0 lead through Benedikt Bauer (33′). There was no winner, so the game went to penalties. SSV Jahn Regensburg ultimately prevailed 5-3, meaning that Jahn, along with regional league team Würzburger Kickers and league rivals TSV 1860 Munich, have booked their places in the Bayern Cup semi-finals.
