First the district cup, then the top match at ASC – Pache wants to “give it his all”

Before the Oberliga top match against ASC 09 Dortmund, SG Wattenscheid 09, coached by Christopher Pache, will compete in the round of 16 of the district cup.

SG Wattenscheid 09, coached by Christopher Pache, leads the Oberliga Westfalen table undefeated. Before the top match against ASC 09 Dortmund this coming weekend, however, another task awaits SGW in the cup. On Tuesday evening (November 25, 7:30 p.m.), Wattenscheid will play away at district league club FC Neuruhrort in the round of 16 of the Bochum district cup. Although SGW are the clear favorites going into the game, Pache is not taking the match lightly. “The district cup is also important, so we will approach the game with great concentration and give it our all,” explained the SGW coach. “Our strategy is to stay in all competitions for as long as possible, and our ultimate goal is, of course, to win the district cup.”

In terms of personnel, Pache gave the all-clear with regard to the upcoming games. In the 3-2 win against SV Schermbeck last weekend, Nils Da Costa Pereira had to be substituted after 72 minutes.
However, the 26-year-old was able to resume normal training shortly afterwards and will be available again on Tuesday. Albin Thaqi and Berkan Firat have also returned to team training.
We are going into this top match with a lot of confidence and, of course, we want to remain undefeated.

Should SGW win the district cup, the signs are good for the top match against ASC 09 Dortmund on Saturday (November 29, 3:30 p.m.), thanks in part to the return of the injured players, and the team’s unbeaten streak could continue. Pache is already excited about the match and emphasized his team’s strong form.

“We are in good shape, as you can see from the table and our recent results. We are going into this top match with a lot of confidence and, of course, we want to remain undefeated,” explained Wattenscheid’s coach. “We are really looking forward to the game and are definitely ready for it.”

Another key player extends his contract early

Last Friday, the club’s management announced more good news. In addition to goalkeeper Joshua Mroß, another key player, Albin Thaqi, has extended his contract early. The 23-year-old center back’s new contract is valid until the summer of 2027, with an option for a further year. “With Albin, we have been able to extend another important cornerstone for the coming season early on. Since joining us in the summer, he has brought a lot of stability to our team and has played a major role in helping us to build one of the best defenses in the league so far this season. We are delighted that he is staying with SG 09 and are confident that he will continue to grow as a leading player with us,” said Ricky Weber, sporting director, to the club’s own media.
