Selimbegović thrilled by away players, without five men at MSV

Alemannia Aachen wants to show MSV Duisburg why it has felt much more comfortable away from home than at its home stadium, Tivoli, so far this season.

After a poor start to the season (only one win from six games), Alemannia Aachen has found its footing in the 3rd division. However, after three wins in a row, there was a minor setback recently.

At home, they lost 0-2 to second division relegated team Jahn Regensburg. It was their sixth home defeat in their eighth home game, and things continue to be difficult at the Tivoli. Coach Mersad Selimbegović said before Saturday’s game (2 p.m.) at MSV Duisburg: “That was too cheap. We didn’t grab hold of the game, we have to change things in the tackles. Everyone has to take responsibility for every tackle. If you win the most important tackles, you don’t lose.”

The Aachen team is probably looking forward to playing away again. The team currently feels better away from home. They have won four of seven away games, putting them in fourth place in the away table.

They now want to show this strength in Duisburg. However, Aachen will still be without five players. Mika Hanraths, Valmir Sulejmani, Fabio Torsiello, Matti Wagner, and Lamar Yarbrough will not be available for the 90 minutes at the Wedau.

Five players are out, but Aachen has 4,800 fans behind them. The allocation of tickets for away fans has been completely sold out, which is fantastic news for the coach: “When I hear that so many fans are coming with us, it’s really incredible.”

The coach, who took over at Aachen on November 6 and has so far experienced one win and one defeat, added: “It’s a full house, it’s going to be a heated game. MSV has a good team, but there are also things that aren’t so good. We have to take advantage of that.“

The Aachen team will arrive on Friday. Selimbegović: ”It’s not ideal preparation for the game if we have to drive for two hours on the day of the game. That’s why we’re going to Duisburg on Friday.”
