Crazy victory! Landers wants to win the traditional masters and celebrate two promotions

Arminia Klosterhardt celebrated a crazy victory in the district league last weekend. The Oberhausen team turned a 0:3 half-time deficit into a 4:3 victory!

What kind of finish was that at Hans-Wagner-Weg? Arminia Klosterhardt was trailing 3-0 at halftime and 3-1 in the 83rd minute in the top match of the Bezirksliga Group 6 in the Lower Rhine region against SV Burgaltendorf.

And then this: Abdul Afiz Tholley (84th minute), Max Langerbein (90+4), who also scored the 1-3 (47th minute), and Meris Glogic (90+5) caused madness in Klosterhardt and secured a 4-3 victory for Arminia.

“That was the most emotional and crazy game I’ve ever experienced as a coach. I don’t think there will ever be another one like it. Unbelievable! I was and still am so happy and proud of the boys for rewarding themselves. They never gave up and always believed in themselves. Even when the 1-3 result was already clear,“ said Marcel Landers. He added: ”After the game, the U17 and U19 teams ran onto the field, cheering and celebrating. I had a feeling that this incredible success had brought the club a little closer together again.“

After the victory, which was described as an ”emotional roller coaster,” Arminia is now only one point behind leaders Sterkrade 06/07. Landers is working with his team on immediate promotion and seems to believe in it more than ever.

A Traditionsmasters victory and the promotions of Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and Arminia Klosterhardt – that would be a great first half of 2026!

Marcel Landers

“The league is incredibly crazy and exciting. Any of the top seven or eight teams can beat any of the others. It always depends on how you perform on the day. But we want to stay up there until the end and, ideally, get promoted. Now we need to pool all our resources once again and score points in the last game of the year in Vogelheim,” says the former professional.

The 41-year-old will lace up his boots himself on January 4, 2026, at the Mülheim sports hall. At the 19th edition of the NRW Traditionsmasters. Landers, an RWO icon, will once again wear the shamrock on his chest. “We want to win this Masters,” he emphasizes, adding with a wink: “A Traditionsmasters victory and the promotion of Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and Arminia Klosterhardt – that would be a great first half of 2026!”
