The regional league club 1. FC Wülfrath has made a coaching decision. The club announced this on Monday, December 8, 2025.
Continuity at 1. FC Wülfrath. The regional league club has extended the coaching contracts of head coach Joscha Weber and his assistant Thomas Cyrys until June 30, 2027.
“The board of 1. FC Wülfrath is happy to announce to all fans and friends shortly before the turn of the year that head coach Joscha Weber and assistant coach Thomas Cyrys will remain on the sidelines for the next two seasons. As the two are also in charge of sporting management, this position is also secured for the next two years. Goalkeeper coach Sebastian Herweg, who has been loyal to the club for many years, will also remain in his position,” said the Wülfrath board. The board of 1. FC Wülfrath is thus continuing to focus on continuity and clear structures. The Landesliga newcomers are currently in 11th place in Landesliga Group 1 in the Lower Rhine region. “We achieved our first three-year project with promotion to the Landesliga after two years,” says CEO Michaela Massenberg happily. “Even though we are currently lagging behind our own expectations in the Landesliga, this does not change our medium-term goal of aiming for the Oberliga. Accordingly, we are very happy that Joscha Weber and Thomas Cyrys are continuing on this ambitious path with the club. The two of them have achieved a lot here in a short period of time, exceeding expectations, and we also appreciate their always open, honest, and transparent communication with the board. That’s why we wanted to send a signal and extend their contracts early.“ Head coach Weber is also happy about the extension. ”As a coaching team, together with the board and the team, we have achieved the project we set out to do at the time: promotion to the Landesliga. Now it’s time to take the next steps together. I’m really looking forward to the next few years at FCW. The important thing now is to stabilize the club in the Landesliga and take the next steps in its development. We are still a long way from reaching the end of our journey. I am very grateful for the trust placed in me by the board and am delighted to be part of this ambitious project for the next two seasons and to continue to help shape the development of FC Wülfrath. “
