SV Rödinghausen is making a late start to the new competitive season. The match in Lotte has been canceled. But a new player has arrived.
SV Rödinghausen has signed Davis Asante on loan from Jahn Regensburg until the end of the season. The 22-year-old is versatile in attack and has played in seven 3rd league matches so far this season. Asante moved from Werder Bremen to Regensburg in the summer, where he has a contract until 2027. The former U international will wear the number 23 jersey for SVR. “We are very happy to have more options in attack with Davis. He can play both on the wing and up front and is very quick and strong in one-on-one situations,” said SVR head coach Lars Fleischer about the transfer.
The Regionalliga West 2025/2026 season was supposed to restart the following weekend with nine matches. But that won’t happen.
Two matches have already been canceled. “The home game between Sportfreunde Lotte and SV Rödinghausen, scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 2 p.m., has had to be canceled due to weather conditions. The current condition of the pitch – also taking into account the weather conditions of the past few days – does not allow our natural grass pitch to be played on at this time. For this reason, we unfortunately had no choice but to cancel the match,” according to a press release from Sportfreunde Lotte.
The match between Sportfreunde Siegen and the second team of Champions League participant Borussia Dortmund had already been canceled.
“Due to the persistent sub-zero temperatures over the past few nights, the turf at Leimbachstadion is unplayable. The city of Siegen officially closed the field on Thursday morning and declared it unplayable. Under these conditions, it is not possible to play the match. Sportfreunde Siegen deeply regrets the cancellation of the match and the inconvenience this causes for spectators, guests, and all those involved. The club will announce a new date as soon as it has been set by the association,” said the Siegerland club.
