BVB draw and home game for VfL Bochum – “There’s nothing better”.

VfL Bochum welcomes Borussia Dortmund in the DFB Cup Round of 16. Kevin Stöger and Anthony Losilla are looking forward to the derby in front of their own fans.

VfL Bochum had an all-round successful Sunday. First, Thomas Letsch’s team delivered an outstanding performance in front of their home crowd against Union Berlin, beating the league leaders 2-1 (1-0). After that, the draw also gave VfL a real cracker in the DFB Cup round of 16.

Borussia Dortmund will be the guests at the Ruhrstadion. It was particularly important for the players and the club that the team was drawn another home game, as Anthony Losilla and Kevin Stöger explained after the draw. “On top of that, Dortmund, I think that’s a really cool draw. We are definitely really looking forward to the game,” Stöger reacted to the draw.

Sold-out crowd, evening match, cup against Dortmund. There’s not much more awesome.

It should be clear by now, should there be no restrictions at the start of next year, that both teams can look forward to a full Ruhrstadion. “Sold-out house, evening match, cup against Dortmund. There’s not much more awesome. We are already fired up for the game and then, of course, just like against Union Berlin, we want to cheer together with our fans after the game. That is our goal. We clearly want to progress.”

Words that the VfL fans will be happy to hear. Because the performance against Union Berlin at the latest showed that Bochum have no reason to hide against supposedly stronger opponents.

Losilla wants to “make it difficult” for Dortmund

For team captain Losilla, the home game against BVB is “an awesome draw”, especially in his own stadium. “On top of that, it’s a derby. There is nothing better. Maybe we would have liked an easier opponent, but I’m looking forward to this game. We will do everything to make it difficult for them,” announced the 36-year-old.

The Cup Round of 16 will take place on 31 January, 1, 7 and 8 February 2023. It has not yet been decided when exactly the match will take place and whether it will possibly even be broadcast on free TV. dz with gp
