Before their upcoming away trip to Ulm, MSV Duisburg played a friendly match against SpVg Schonnebeck. Dietmar Hirsch drew the following conclusions from the 5-0 victory.
Many of the MSV Duisburg professionals had a double shift on Tuesday evening (January 27). After the start of training for the upcoming away game at SSV Ulm, there was a friendly match at Westender Straße against the second-placed team in the Oberliga Niederrhein, Spielvereinigung Schonnebeck.
After 90 minutes and a clear second half, the final score was 5-0 for MSV Duisburg. The team included players from the U19s and first team players who have had less playing time this season. We spoke to coach Dietmar Hirsch after the game.
Dietmar Hirsch on…
…the 90 minutes: “First and foremost, these games are about playing practice. That’s much more important than training. In addition, we are strengthening the connection with the NLZ with the U19 players. The result was good, the intensity against a very good Oberliga team that is at the top of the table for a reason. Of course, the processes couldn’t be 100% there, but I thought it was very committed and the U19 players also did very well. I’m very satisfied.“
…trial player Dominik Becker: ”I liked him a lot. Flawless, solid. Just as a center back should play – flawlessly. He dribbled courageously and you can see that he already has good pace. That’s good for a center back. We’ll see how it goes.”
And we got two penalties. That’s why I say they were nice. We haven’t had that many so far.

…Gabriel Sadlek at left back: “You could see that he lacks playing practice. That’s another reason why it was good that we had this game. Now we have to see whether we’ll do it this way or differently for the weekend. We could also put someone who is right-footed there. However, we would rather have a left-footed player there. We’ll just see, and we still have a few days until Ulm.“
…the strikers’ successes: ”All goals are good and boost confidence. Whether it’s Flo Krüger or Simon Symalla, who scored two goals. Andy Visser also scored a great goal – in true striker fashion. I think all the goals were beautiful. And we got two penalties. That’s why I say they were beautiful too. We haven’t had that many so far.”
