Sportfreunde Siegen won their rescheduled match against 1. FC Köln II thanks to a late goal. SV Rödinghausen’s winning streak has come to an end.

During the international break, several rescheduled matches are taking place in the Regionalliga West. The action kicked off on Tuesday with the reserve teams of SC Paderborn and FC Schalke 04, who drew 1-1. Bonner SC and the U21s of VfL Bochum also split the points on Wednesday (2-2).

Sportfreunde Siegen hosted the second team of 1. FC Köln on Friday evening. Head coach Boris Schommers’ team managed to keep the young “Geißböcke” at bay with a 2-1 (1-1) victory thanks to a late winner, thereby solidifying their seventh-place standing in the table.

Kevin Goden headed Sportfreunde into the lead in the twelfth minute following a cross from David Kammerbauer. After just over half an hour, Siegen had a great chance to make it 2-0, but Hamza Saghiri hit the post from close range (32′).

Shortly before the halftime whistle, Cologne suddenly struck. They switched gears quickly, and Fynn Schenten—who has already played seven times in the Bundesliga for the FC pros this season—finished the attack (45’+3).

Everything pointed to a draw until stoppage time began. And it was indeed the Siegen side that capitalized on the final chance of the match. Malik Hodroj (90+2) sent the Leimbach Stadium into ecstasy.

SV Rödinghausen wanted to continue their recent upward trend of three consecutive unbeaten games in their away match against Sportfreunde Lotte and pull slightly ahead of the competition in the fight to avoid relegation.

But Lotte thwarted SVR’s plans and won 3-0 (1-0). Striker Leon Demaj put the Blue-Whites ahead (18th minute). In the second half, Max Ritter added to the lead (61st minute). Shortly before the end (79th minute, penalty), Demaj sealed the 3-0 final score from the spot—it was his 14th goal of the season.

For the Wiehen-led team, the situation at the bottom of the table remains precarious. Their lead over the first relegation spot, currently held by Wuppertaler SV, is just one point.

Two more make-up matches are scheduled for Saturday (March 28, 2 p.m.). Bonner SC is back in action against FC Gütersloh, and Fortuna Düsseldorf II will host league leaders Fortuna Köln.
