“Get the boys out of their slippers” – Celik remains coach for the time being

For four games Hayrettin Celik has been interim coach at SC Westfalia Herne. Sporting director Michele di Bari is very satisfied – there is no job guarantee.

Michele Di Bari is sports director at SC Westfalia Herne – and stands next to interim coach Hayrettin Celik on the sidelines. “That’s always been the case and that’s the way it will stay, that I’m assisting. Hayrettin is doing a super job in my opinion,” explains the sporting director.

“He coached four games and when he had to, he always scored,” explains di Bari, alluding to Celik’s record: at the start, there was an important victory against RSV Meinerzhagen for the interim coach, which was followed by two defeats. Then, on the last matchday, there was another important victory in the “six-point game” at DJK TuS Hordel.

“He can really tickle the boys and get them out of their slippers when they need it. His match preparation is top,” raves di Bari. Nevertheless, Celik does not have a firm prospect of permanent employment. There have been no real contract talks with other coaches yet, although di Bari says: “You know one or the other and chat a bit. But they weren’t serious talks. “

So, at least for the time being, it will continue with Celik as head coach. He has a huge task ahead of him on the next matchday: league leaders Türkspor Dortmund are coming to Herne.

“I can’t say much about Türkspor’s concept from afar. They play great ball, are well-rehearsed and can change without losing quality. You don’t just beat DSC Wanne-Eickel 4:0,” says sports director di Bari, who is impressed by the upcoming opponent. In this situation, of all things, Westfalia Herne are missing a number of players: “With Boran Sezen, Simon Struck and Lokman Erdogan, virtually our entire offensive is out at the moment,” explains di Bari.

It seems that the Celik/di Bari team will have to reach deep into their coach’s bag of tricks to make something happen against the current league leaders next Sunday (30.10.). Kick-off in Herne is at 3:30 p.m.
