SV Rödinghausen is getting a late start to the new competitive season. The match in Lotte has been canceled. However, a new player has joined the team.
SV Rödinghausen has signed Davis Asante on loan from Jahn Regensburg until the end of the season. The 22-year-old is versatile in attack and has appeared in seven 3rd Division matches so far this season.
Asante moved from Werder Bremen to Regensburg in the summer, where he has a contract through 2027. The former U-national team player will wear the number 23 jersey for SVR.
“We are very happy to gain more options for our offense with Davis. He can play both on the wings and up front and possesses great speed as well as strong one-on-one skills,” said SVR head coach Lars Fleischer regarding the transfer.
The 2025/2026 Regionalliga West season was actually supposed to restart the following weekend with nine matches. But that won’t happen.
Two matches have already been canceled. “The home game between Sportfreunde Lotte and SV Rödinghausen, scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 2 p.m., must be canceled due to weather conditions. The current condition of the field—taking into account the weather conditions of the past few days—does not allow for our natural grass field to be playable at this time. For this reason, we unfortunately had no choice but to cancel the match,” according to a press release from Sportfreunde Lotte.
Previously, the match between Sportfreunde Siegen and the reserve team of Champions League participant Borussia Dortmund had already been canceled.
“Due to the persistent sub-freezing temperatures over the past few nights, the field at Leimbachstadion is unplayable. The city of Siegen officially closed the field on Thursday morning and declared it unplayable. Under these conditions, it is not possible to hold the match. Sportfreunde Siegen deeply regrets the cancellation of the match and the resulting inconvenience for spectators, guests, and everyone involved. The club will announce a rescheduled date as soon as it has been set by the association,” the club from the Siegerland region stated.
