MSV Duisburg apparently wants to solidify its strong position in the 3. Liga. The next new signing is on the way.
Second day of the year, second new signing? As Forecasting has learned, MSV Duisburg is apparently working on its next signing: Lex-Tyger Lobinger from FC Viktoria Köln is on the verge of a move to the Zebras.
The 26-year-old would take on the role of finisher in coach Dietmar Hirsch’s squad. There is certainly a need here. For one thing, because MSV has scored the fewest goals (32) among the top four teams in the 3. Liga. For another, because two wingers—Conor Noß (six goals) and Patrick Sussek (five)—pose the greatest goal-scoring threat.
Lobinger has already scored nine times in 17 games this season alone. His record in the 3rd Division: 54 games, 24 goals. He also has 60 Second Division appearances (two goals) and 90 appearances in the Regionalliga West (23 goals).
Lobinger still has a contract with Viktoria Köln until the end of the season. Previously, the forward played for VfL Osnabrück, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, Fortuna Düsseldorf, and Wattenscheid 09.
MSV Duisburg: Lobinger would be the second winter signing
Lobinger would be MSV Duisburg’s second signing of the still-young winter transfer window. Just in time for their departure to the training camp in Belek (Turkey), the third-place team in the 3. Liga announced the signing of Aljaz Casar.
The 25-year-old midfielder, who can also play in central defense, comes from second-division side Dynamo Dresden and has made twelve appearances this season.
Most recently, MSV sporting director Chris Schmoldt had emphasized that he does not see the Zebras under pressure in the transfer market. Rather, one or two reserves might be wondering whether they could play a more important role at another club.
Now, there are signs that Duisburg could land two new signings in just two days.
