Things had come to a standstill for Keleb Nwubani at VfL Bochum II. He has now found a new club in the Oberliga Westfalen.
Shortly before Christmas, VfL Bochum II trimmed its roster. As the club announced, Stevan Tasic, Ben Heuser, Keleb Nwubani, and Jan-Nzeba Bost are leaving. The club terminated the contracts of center back Tasic, left winger Heuser, and center back Nwubani.
Nzeba-Bost, on the other hand, has found a new club on loan. He will be heading to Oberliga club Rot Weiss Ahlen in Westphalia until next summer. Forecasting has already reported on this.
And lo and behold: he’ll be reunited with a familiar face from Bochum. Nwubani is also heading to Ahlen. The 22-year-old has signed a contract through June 30, 2026, and is expected to gain valuable playing time in the coming months while bolstering the defense.
“Keleb brings physical presence and a solid understanding of the center-back position. He has already played for various clubs at a young age and knows what it takes to prove himself every day. We see him as a valuable addition to our squad, one who gives us options in the short term while also possessing development potential,” said Luka Tankulic, sporting director of Rot Weiss Ahlen.

Nwubani is an Irish citizen, stands 1.92 meters tall, and despite his young age already has experience at higher levels in both youth and senior football. Most recently, the center back was under contract with VfL Bochum II; prior to that, he played for Preußen Münster II and TuS Erndtebrück, among others. He began his soccer training in England before making the move to Germany. With this signing, Rot Weiss Ahlen is deliberately investing in a defensive player with development potential who is expected to provide additional options in central defense in the current situation.
“I’m really looking forward to my time at Rot Weiss Ahlen. The discussions were open and honest, and I know that I’ll get the chance here to develop further and help the team. I want to work hard in training and on the field and do my part,” he said.
