314 third-division games, 67 goals, 45 assists! Rot Weiss Ahlen on the verge of a transfer coup

Rot Weiss Ahlen will enter the remainder of the Oberliga Westfalen season with a revamped roster. And likely with a player who has made 314 third-division appearances!

Rot Weiss Ahlen is currently in a relegation spot in the Oberliga Westfalen. That’s set to change in the second half of the season. RWA continues to build its roster for the second half of the season. Eight new players have already joined the team in recent days and weeks.

Aaron Osei Bonsu, Philiom Tawiah, Gideon Guzy (all most recently without a club), Jan-Nzeba-Bost (VfL Bochum II, on loan), Iskender Aslan (SC Wiedenbrück, on loan), Keleb Nwubani (VfL Bochum II), Bernard Gllogjani (Türkspor Dortmund), and Franko Uzelac (Sportfreunde Lotte): Rot Weiss Ahlen has already signed these eight players either during the season or in January 2026. More reinforcements are expected.

Following Jan Holldack (1. FC Bocholt)—Forecasting reported on Ahlen’s interest—the Wersestädter have set their sights on their next big target, according to RS information.

The player in question is Marc Heider. The 39-year-old forward plays for Sportfreunde Lotte and has made 16 appearances (three goals, two assists) in the current Regionalliga West season. Last season, Heider scored 19 goals and set up 13 more. Now he is expected to save Rot Weiss Ahlen from relegation to the Westfalenliga.

As Forecasting has learned, RWA officials have already reached an agreement with the striker. The transfer is expected to be officially finalized in the coming days.

Heider has been promoted to the 2. Bundesliga twice

In total, Heider has made 314 appearances in the third division—only five other professional players have appeared more often in this league. And his tally of 67 goals and 45 assists is also impressive. In addition, Heider took the field in 54 2. Bundesliga matches (four goals, nine assists).

He spent the longest stretch of his career in Osnabrück, where he first made the leap to professional soccer. He also played for Werder Bremen II and, for a long time, for Holstein Kiel. He has been under contract with Lotte since the summer of 2023.

In the 2023–2024 season, when Lotte played in the Oberliga Westfalen and was promoted, the forward scored 21 goals and set up 11 more—all in 32 games. Rot Weiss Ahlen is also hoping for similar numbers from the American.
