In the Lower Rhine Landesliga Group 2, a group of top teams has emerged after eleven matchdays.
Six points separate VfB Bottrop and DJK Sportfreunde Katernberg: that is the gap between the league leader and the sixth-place team in Landesliga Group 2 in the Lower Rhine region.
Here’s how Matchday 11 unfolded: VfB Bottrop defeated Sportfreunde Hamborn 07 4–3 at home in the Jahnstadion. In front of 100 spectators, Ahmed Jemaiel, Enes Bilgin, and Raphael Steinmetz (2) scored for Bottrop.
Meanwhile, ESC Rellinghausen, VfB’s closest pursuer, lost 1–0 to Viktoria Goch in the top-of-the-table clash. Maximilian Fuchs (88’) scored the goal of the day at Essen’s Krausen Bäumchen.
SV Budberg, third in the standings, played to a 1-1 draw at PSV Wesel-Lackhausen. Meanwhile, SV Scherpenberg continues its upward climb. Under interim coach and sporting director Sven Schützek, the team secured its fifth straight victory with a 4-1 win over Mülheimer FC 97. The Moers-based team is fifth in the standings and just four points behind first place.
The strong newly promoted team DJK Sportfreunde Katernberg can also set its sights on the top. The Essen-based team won the city derby against SC Werden-Heidhausen 3-0. In front of 160 spectators, Marcel Welscher, Maurice Tavio Y Huete, and Timo Conde scored for coach Sascha Hense’s team.
FC Kray managed to halt its losing streak of six consecutive defeats for the time being, earning a 2-2 draw at 1.FC Lintorf. The match between VfB Speldorf and GSV Moers also ended in a draw. With the scoreless tie, there was no winner in Mülheim.
Meanwhile, Sportfreunde Niederwenigern and SG Schönebeck won their matches. Niederwenigern won 5–2 on the road against SV Rhenania Bottrop, the team at the bottom of the table. And Schönebeck won 4–0 at home at Ardelhütte against Blau-Weiß Mintard. Soheib Benhamza, Nick Hillmann, Yasar Cakir, and Yassine Bentaleb scored the goals for SG Schönebeck.
