Andreas Zimmermann has found a new job. The coach, well-known in North Rhine-Westphalia, is taking a position in the 3. Liga.
SV Wehen Wiesbaden is filling the gaps in its roster. Just over a week ago, the Hessian club introduced Daniel Scherning as its new head coach, succeeding Nils Döring.
“With Daniel Scherning, we’ve gained a coach who is a great fit for our club, both professionally and personally. His experience and leadership style will give our team new momentum. We’re confident that with him we’ll achieve our athletic goals and look forward to working together,” said Uwe Stöver, sporting director at SVWW.
And Scherning, who most recently coached Eintracht Braunschweig in the 2. Bundesliga and has 74 second-division games under his belt, can now welcome an old acquaintance to his side.
As SVWW announced, Andreas Zimmermann is joining the club in Wiesbaden as assistant coach. The 55-year-old most recently worked alongside Scherning at Eintracht Braunschweig and brings extensive experience from both the professional and youth levels. The Berlin native has signed a contract through 2027.
“With Andreas Zimmermann, we’re gaining an experienced and competent coach who already knows Daniel Scherning very well from their time together in Braunschweig. His professional expertise, his communicative style, and his eye for team dynamics will complement our coaching staff very well,” said Stöver.
During his career, Zimmermann has coached teams including Rot Weiss Ahlen, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, and Wuppertaler SV. In the Regionalliga West, he has a record of 166 games (58 wins, 51 draws, 57 losses).
He is now joining the team in Wiesbaden. “I’m really looking forward to this opportunity at SV Wehen Wiesbaden, as well as to working with Daniel and the entire coaching staff. The discussions were very trusting from the start, and I immediately sensed that the work here is done professionally, but also with a lot of passion. I want to do my part to help us achieve our athletic goals together,” Zimmermann said at the start.
