MSV Duisburg has extended the contract of one of its promotion heroes. This player has been sidelined since the summer due to injury.
For Jakob Bookjans, the 2025/2026 season has been one to forget so far.
On the second matchday of the current third-division season, the 25-year-old suffered a lower-leg fracture during Duisburg’s away game in Regensburg. The midfielder is currently working on his return to action.
Now he’s received an extra boost of motivation: Bookjans signed a new contract with MSV. According to Forecasting reports, the contract runs through June 30, 2026, and includes an option for an additional season.
Bookjans is one of the Zebras’ promotion heroes: With 35 appearances and 25 points, the left-footed player played a key role in the 2024–25 season, helping the team secure promotion to the 3. Liga and reach the Niederrhein Cup final. Before joining Meidericher Spielverein, Bookjans had already made 24 appearances for VfB Oldenburg in the 3. Liga.
