Arsenal give all-clear: Professional Marí not seriously injured after knife attack

After the shocking knife attack in an Italian supermarket last Thursday in which professional footballer Pablo Marí was injured, Arsenal FC London have now given the all-clear. His club announced via Twitter that, according to his advisor, he is in hospital but is not seriously injured.

The footballer, who is currently on loan from his London-based parent club to Italian first division side AC Monza, is one of five victims of the knife attack in Assago, a suburb of Milan. Three others were injured and one supermarket worker died on the way to hospital.

Police say terrorist motives can be ruled out

The 46-year-old suspect has already been arrested by the police. While a motive is not yet known, terrorist motives can be ruled out according to the police. However, the man appears to be mentally unstable.

Witnesses reported that they first saw shocked people fleeing from the Carrefour shop before employees recognised the dangerous situation and locked the shop.

The Carrefour supermarket chain said that the police and emergency services responded immediately to the emergency calls made and also expressed its sympathy to those affected. Furthermore, it offered them psychological support.
