Striker has three goals – 15 plus X goals, cup win and promotion.

Wuppertaler SV finished the first half of the Regionalliga West with 31 points. If the goal scorer has his way, then it should be at least ten more points in the second half of the season.

Six games, six wins! With this strong finish, Wuppertaler SV have ended the first half of the Regionalliga West. On Saturday (2 p.m.), the second half of the season starts at Rot Weiss Ahlen.

“We want to continue where we left off and also win in Ahlen,” emphasises Serhat-Semih Güler, WSV’s goal scorer.

The 25-year-old can look back on six goals and four assists from twelve games. He has scored four of those goals in the last six victorious games.

“Everyone knew that we had quality. Now we are also constantly using one system, one line-up, we know each other better and harmonise better with each other. We have tried out a few things and have now found our direction. That’s why things are going well,” he explains the recipe for success.

I want to score 15 plus X goals and we are still hot in the league as well as in the Niederrheinpokal. Of course I want to get promoted, that was also the declared goal of the season, and nobody in Wuppertal would have anything against a win in the cup.

Semih Güler

There’s an explanation for the fact that things didn’t go smoothly at the beginning of the season, even with the addition – Güler came to Wuppertal from Bonn. First Güler was out under former coach Björn Mehnert with a torn muscle fibre, then with adductor problems. “The start in Wuppertal was not good for me. But I knew I had to keep at it and of course have patience. Now I’m playing, we’re winning, I’m scoring goals and I notice from game to game how fitter and stronger I’m getting,” says the Cologne native.

Güler, who has made a total of 75 appearances (23 goals, 11 assists) in the 4th Division, still has big goals this season. Three of them: “I want to score 15 plus X goals and we are still in the running in the league and in the Niederrheinpokal. Of course I want to get promoted, that was the declared goal of the season, and nobody in Wuppertal would object to a victory in the cup,” Güler says with a fighting spirit.

But he also knows that first of all there is the task in Ahlen, then two more matches before the winter break. “In Ahlen it will be disgusting. They have an even worse pitch than us and are a very poisonous, bilious, greedy bunch. They will demand everything from us. It will depend on the mentality. But we have a lot of self-confidence at the moment. I’m confident that we’ll get the next three points,” says Güler.

And the four-point gap to Münster? Güler: “I hope it stays that way and that Preußen lose the catch-up game at Schalke on Wednesday. But the important thing is that we first solve our tasks. “
