According to Kirk-Post – BVB seeks talks with Nmecha

Borussia Dortmund will internally review a hotly debated social media post by national soccer player Felix Nmecha and seek talks with the professional. However, the club will not comment further publicly, and a penalty was never under consideration. Nmecha had expressed his shock on Instagram following the murder of right-wing conservative influencer Charlie Kirk in the US. “Rest in peace with God. Such a sad day,” the 24-year-old initially wrote, but the post was later revised. “May the Lord be with the Kirk family during this time with special grace. Jesus is the true path to peace and love,” it now reads.

Nmecha’s words caused quite a stir and provoked controversy, especially among his fans. In another post, which has since been deleted, Nmecha wrote that Kirk, who was notorious for his radical views, had “peacefully stood up for his beliefs and values.” To ‘celebrate’ the assassination of a father and husband was “truly evil,” he said.

Nmecha is deeply religious and holds Christian conservative views. Two years ago, he shared posts that were considered homophobic and anti-LGBTQ+. Kirk, a Donald Trump supporter and leading figure in the MAGA movement, was shot dead on Wednesday during a discussion event on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem.
