VfB Hilden won 2-0 against KFC Uerdingen at the weekend. Even before kickoff, the organizational director leveled serious accusations in the direction of the Krefelders.
Wolfgang Appelstiel has been an institution at VfB Hilden for years and is regarded as a man of clear words. That proved the first chairman of many years and leader organization/administration of the Niederrhein Oberligisten last Saturday.
Even before kickoff of the home game against KFC Uerdingen, he raised serious accusations against the Krefeld team. Trigger: agreed payments as a result of the transfer of Pascal Weber in the last winter, which according to Appelstiel so far failed to materialize.
“We had agreed on a further payment of 5000 euros for July 2023. We are still waiting for this money today. The Uerdinger behave like a district league player. We will initiate reminder proceedings next week if nothing happens by then,” Appelstiel raged.
As a reminder, Weber moved to the Grotenburg last winter break after many successful years in Hilden. Since the goal scorer had a current contract with VfB at the time, KFC had to pay a transfer fee – which has apparently not yet been fully done.
But there seems to be a solution in sight. The Uerdingen informed on request, generally not to comment on specific contract contents. But: “We are in exchange with the colleagues of VfB Hilden to clarify the matter conclusively.”
But it wasn’t just the aftermath of the Weber transfer that caused anger among Hilden officials. Appelstiel also disliked the fact that the match had to be played at Bandsbusch and not at the home Hoffeldstraße. “They (KFC, editor’s note) have requested 400 to 500 tickets from us in advance. Accordingly, the security requirements are high. In the end, 78 tickets were sold in advance. A farce.”
At least the Hilden team was able to satisfy the former CEO. VfB celebrated an acclaimed 2-0 victory over Uerdingen and jumped to sixth place in the table.
