The DFB teams will no longer be kitted out by Adidas from 2027. This marks the end of an era after many decades.
Until now, the Adidas logo has been an integral part of the German national team’s jerseys. From 2027, this will no longer be the case. As the German Football Association (DFB) announced on Thursday afternoon, the partnership with the sporting goods manufacturer will end at the end of 2026. After that, all DFB teams will be kitted out by Nike.
The DFB has agreed a contract with the US brand until 2034. “We are looking forward to working with Nike and the trust they have placed in us. The future partnership will enable the DFB to continue to perform key tasks in the coming decade with a view to the comprehensive development of soccer in Germany,” explained association president Bernd Neuendorf. “But one thing is also clear: until December 2026, we will do everything in our power to ensure the joint success of our long-standing and current partner adidas, to whom German soccer has owed a great deal for more than seven decades.”
The partnership with the previous supplier Adidas has lasted seven decades and was already present during the winning of the four World Cup and three European Championship titles. Just a few days ago, the company from Herzogenaurach and the DFB presented the jerseys for the upcoming European Championships.
According to Dr. Holger Bask, CEO of DFB GmbH & Co KG, the upcoming switch to Nike is the result of a transparent and non-discriminatory tender. “Nike submitted by far the best economic offer and also convinced us with its content vision, which also includes a clear commitment to the promotion of amateur and grassroots sport as well as the sustainable development of women’s soccer in Germany. The timing of the tender is usual with regard to the planning and lead times and was discussed in advance with all relevant market participants. “
