About a year ago, Adrian Alipour lost his coaching job at TSV Steinbach. Now the Dortmund native has found a new job.
Just one day after the dismissal of former Bundesliga goalkeeper and international Oliver Reck – RevierSport reported – southwest regional league club FC Rot-Weiss Koblenz has presented Reck’s successor.
The 44-year-old Adrian Alipour will be the new coach at the bottom team of the Regionalliga Südwest.
“With this decision, we hope to set a new impulse to get points in the upcoming important games and thus close the gap to the non-relegation places,” explained RWK’s sporting director Christian Noll.
Alipour is no stranger to the Regionalliga Südwest. He coached TSV Steinbach Haiger between July 2019 and December 2021. “With Adrian, we are getting a coach who knows the league inside out. That was very important to us when selecting the coach,” Noll emphasised.
Successful time in Steinbach
A-licence holder Alipour was on the sidelines in 92 competitive games (points average of 1.91 points per game, editor’s note) for TSV Steinbach. With him as head coach, the Steinbach team won the Hessen Cup in 2020 and reached the finals of the State Cup in the 2020/2021 season. In the 2019/2020 Regionalliga round, which was abandoned prematurely because of Corona, TSV finished runners-up behind 1.FC Saarbrücken and narrowly missed promotion to the 3. Liga.
Alipour’s path: via Kirchhörde, ASC and WSV to Steinbach
Alipour, who hails from Dortmund, began his coaching career at Dortmund amateur club Kirchhörder SC and then signed on as co-coach at Wuppertaler SV. In September 2016, he took over as coach of the top division club ASC Dortmund and led the club from a relegation spot to the top group of the Oberliga Westfalen. This was followed in September 2018 by his return to the West-Regionalliga club in Wuppertal – this time as head coach. At the end of March 2019, he terminated his contract with WSV and joined TSV Steinbach Haiger. After being sacked in Haiger in December 2021, he signed on with Rot-Weiss Koblenz on 8 November 2022.
