After Alemannia Aachen and Fortuna Cologne – the next favorites are still in the running

Exciting quarterfinals are coming up in the Middle Rhine Cup. So far, the favorites have not shown any weakness.

The Middle Rhine Cup continues to hold no surprises. District league team SV Wahlscheid experienced this firsthand on Wednesday evening, November 19, when they suffered an 8-0 defeat against third division team Viktoria Cologne.

Benjamin Zank (10th, 27th, 34th, 88th, 90th), Soichiro Kozuki (22nd), Vincent Carus (32nd), and Leander Popp (83rd) scored the goals that secured a comfortable victory in 90 minutes.

Bonner SC, a regional league team, also prevailed. Serhat Koruk (32′), Eray Isik (62′), Robin Bird (68′) and Jonas Berg (73′) scored in a 4-1 win over Mittelrheinliga team FC Hennef 05. Levi Dang (12th minute, own goal) had initially put the underdogs in the lead. Borussia Lindenthal-Hohenlind also defeated SV Eilendorf 3-1 in a regional league duel.

Favorites also win on Tuesday

State league team FV Endenich suffered a 1-7 defeat against third division team Alemannia Aachen on Tuesday evening, November 18. Nick Maier’s goal to make it 1-2 (56th minute) was ultimately only a flash in the pan.

Niklas Castelle opened the scoring for Aachen after nine minutes. Mehdi Loune made it 2-0 before the break. Just when it looked like Maier’s goal might spark a comeback, Lars Gindorf and Mika Schroers came on for Aachen.

And Schroers sealed the deal with the 3-1 goal in the 78th minute. That broke the spell, and Bentley-Baxter Bahn (82nd, 87th, 90th) and Marc Richter (90th+2) pushed the score even higher.

Landesliga side Rasensport Brand also kept pace with Fortuna Cologne in terms of the score for half the game. It was only shortly before half-time that Adrian Stanilewicz put the big favorites ahead.

But then the difference became clear, with Enzo Wirtz (48th, 61st), Salim Hadouchi (74th), Timo Bornemann (83′), Luca Majetic (85′) and Kian Hekmat (90′) sealed an ultimately emphatic 8-0 victory. Also playing: Friday, November 21, 8 p.m.: Siegburger SV 05 – FC Pesch
