After goal scorer Charlison Benschop, Wuppertaler SV has also lost another dangerous striker.
Bitter news for Wuppertaler SV: SV Eintracht Trier have secured the services of Damjan Marceta. The striker is moving from WSV to the Mosel and will sign a contract with the Regionalliga-Südwest returnees until June 30, 2026.
Daniel Hammel, Head of Sport at Trier, is delighted with the signing for the new season: “Damjan has always performed well in the Regionalliga in recent years and scored his goals. This season he has scored in double figures again for a top team and will of course also help us with his experience on the pitch.”
The 30-year-old Marceta brings more than 150 regional league games to Trier as experience. His longest spell in the south-west to date was with FC Homburg, for whom he played over 80 games.
This season has also gone very well for Marceta, who once came to Wuppertal from SV Rödinghausen. He has eleven goals and four assists to his name. Only Charlison Benschop, who scored 13 goals and set up nine others, has better figures. Benschop is moving to Alemannia Aachen and Marceta is now also leaving WSV.
“There will be players who will leave us despite having valid contracts for the 2024/2025 season,” Gaetano Manno recently told Forecasting. Now WSV fans will know what the sporting director meant by this sentence.

Following the contract extension with goalkeeper Krystian Wozniak and the signings of the Munsters twins Niek and Joep as well as Dilhan Demir (SV Schermbeck), WSV have been able to clarify four personnel matters for the 2024/2025 season in just a few days.
They are joined by Emil Metz, Kilian Cedric Bielitza, Berkem Kurt and Hugo Schmidt (all from the club’s own U19s). Niklas Dams, Lion Schweers, Kevin Hagemann, Marco Terrazzino, Semir Saric, Hüseyin Bulut and Philipp Hanke are also still under contract, bringing the number of players at WSV from July 1, 2024 to 15
