After draw – Dabrowski praises team and fans

Third division side Rot-Weiss Essen missed out on a third successive win against SSV Jahn Regensburg (0-0), but put in a strong performance.

Rot-Weiss Essen remained unbeaten on Saturday afternoon against SSV Jahn Regensburg for the fourth time in a row without conceding a goal and for the fifth time in a row.

In front of 16,727 fans, the score was 0-0 against the relegated second division side, but after the course of the game, this result was rather disappointing for the home side. RWE showed a really strong performance, especially in the first half.

Head coach Christoph Dabrowski’s team was very pressured, dominated the game and combined well through the Jahn defence. Only in the final third did Essen lack the necessary consistency. After the game, everyone agreed that a home win would have been more than deserved.

This team can hardly be compared to last year’s team. Dabrowski was also satisfied with his team after the game. “I can live with the point. We’re not going to get megalomaniac now because we know where we’re coming from. But: I saw a reaction from my team, which already represented dissatisfaction. You can see that the boys are hungry and wanted to win this game at all costs. We knew that Regensburg would be extremely compact. They threw themselves into everything,” explained Dabrowski.

The RWE coach continued: “Our issue was not converting the ball into a goal in the final third. We simply have to reward ourselves. But the manner was good, especially in the first half we put our stamp on the opponent. I see the positive. We played to nil for the fourth time in a row. “

A huge compliment to that choreography. That was outstanding. You can just see that with the way we play football, we get the appreciation from the fans. They have given us fantastic support.

Before kick-off, the RWE ultra-group “Rude Fans” had presented an impressive choreography on the Westkurve to mark its 15th anniversary. The choreo also amazed the coach. “A huge compliment to this choreography. It was outstanding. You can just see that we get the recognition from the fans with the way we play football. They gave us fantastic support,” praised Dabrowski.
