The club VfB Hilden, which plays in the fifth division of German football, has to find a new sporting director. As the club announced, Dennis Lichtenwimmer-Conversano is no longer in office.
Dennis Lichtenwimmer-Conversano is no longer the sporting director of the Niederrhein-Oberligisten VfB Hilden after five years. This was announced by the team, which is in fifth place, on Tuesday, February 6.
“After joint discussions during the winter break, it became clear to both sides that after five years of working together, it is time for a new impulse and the position of sporting director should be filled by someone new. VfB would like to thank Dennis Lichtenwimmer-Conversano for his many years of commitment and wishes him all the best for the future,” said Maximilian Kulesza, first chairman of the club, on the club’s website. VfB did not announce a successor.
Lichtenwimmer-Conversano has held the position of sporting director at VfB for five years and has also been active in marketing. During his time in office, the first team has finished as runners-up in the Oberliga twice, the second team has been promoted to and finished as runners-up in the Landesliga, and the U19 team has been promoted to the A-Junior Bundesliga.
Lichtenwimmer-Conversano regrets the separation: “Saying goodbye, especially to my home club, is extremely difficult for me. I would like to thank the club officials for trusting me with such a great responsibility at the age of just 29 and for supporting me in every decision,” he said.
He also addressed those who accompanied him during his term of office. “I would also like to thank all those who have accompanied me – consisting of coaching staff, squad players, volunteers, sponsors and, of course, our loyal fans. We have achieved a lot together and I will of course keep my fingers crossed for VfB that successful football continues to be played at Hoffeld.”
Next week, the Oberliga Niederrhein will start the second half of the season. VfB Hilden will then play a home game against Mülheimer FC on Sunday, February 18, at 3:30 pm.
