Borussia Dortmund is fined by the DFB for fan offences. Incidents at games against Schalke and Gladbach result in a heavy fine.
Borussia Dortmund once again has to pay dearly for the misconduct of its own fans. On Monday, the sports court of the German Football Association imposed a fine of 88,000 euros on the German vice-champion. The sentence was imposed for incidents that occurred during the Bundesliga matches at FC Schalke 04 on 11 March and against Borussia Mönchengladbach on 13 May.
Before and during these matches, BVB supporters had set off various pyrotechnic objects. In the run-up to the Schalke match, a Bengal flare even hit a journalist standing on the sidelines, causing his jacket and media bib to catch fire. Only thanks to the quick intervention of the security staff, who immediately extinguished the fire, did no injuries occur.
Of the total amount, Dortmund can use up to 29,300 euros for security or violence prevention measures, the DFB further announced. Proof of this must be provided to the association by 31 December of this year.
