SV Sandhausen have responded to their recent injuries at the goalkeeper position by signing a new keeper.
SV Sandhausen have responded to the absences of goalkeepers Patrick Drewes and Benedikt Grawe by signing Timo Königsmann.
“After the bad news about Patrick and the injury to Bene, we were forced to sign another goalkeeper. Timo was at the Hardtwald for a longer period of time as a training guest and presented himself well. That’s why it was obvious to sign him,” explained Mikayil Kabaca, SVS sporting director.
The 25-year-old Königsmann was most recently the goalkeeper for SV Waldhof Mannheim. Between July 2019 and July 2022, he played 87 Drittliga games in the square city and scored 24 times without conceding a goal. During the current season, the goalkeeper kept fit at SV Sandhausen and has been part of the team training since the beginning of September.
“Timo knows the team and fits very well into our structure. Since he showed good performances in training, we are convinced that he will help us,” explained SVS goalkeeper coach Daniel Ischdonat. Königsmann was already part of the SVS squad in the match against Regenburg (1:2).
Trained in the youth of Hannover 96, Königsmann went through all the stages at youth level and played 16 games in the U19 Bundesliga of Hannover. In 2017, the goalkeeper moved from Hannover’s second string to SpVgg Greuther Fürth before joining VfR Aalen until the end of the season in January 2019 before moving to Mannheim for the 2019/20 season.
Sandhausen remain in the relegation battle in the 2. Bundesliga after losing 2-1 in Regensburg and currently sit 15th in the table.
