Rot-Weiss Essen celebrated a 3:2 victory against SC Paderborn in a test match. For the first time in over three months, Cedric Harenbrock was back on the pitch.
Cedric Harenbrock had to think about it for a moment, but then he had the right answer ready. When asked about his last appearance before his injury, the Rot-Weiss Essen midfielder said: “Good question. It must have been the game in Osnabrück. In any case, it had been far too long again.”
Correct. On 09 September 2022, he was substituted in the closing stages of the away game in Osnabrück (0:1) at Bremer Brücke. After that, Essen’s number eight had to miss a few weeks with a muscle injury and did not play for RWE again until the World Cup break.
It was a difficult time for the blond-haired player, who had already had a lot of bad luck with injuries in the past and had already recovered twice from a cruciate ligament rupture.
In the test match win against SC Paderborn (3:2), Harenbrock was back on the pitch for 45 minutes and celebrated his comeback after more than three months.
The 24-year-old was relieved and spoke about the time he missed injured: “I first had to cure my injury. After that, I worked a lot in the athletic area. I did strength training and my runs – everything you could do on your own during that time. But being on the pitch and training or playing with the team is a completely different strain. “
I have used the break and will continue to attack. Then I hope that I will get my playing time again. I’m fit and happy to be on the pitch and playing.
Cedric Harenbrock.
Since 2017, Cedric Harenbrock has been under contract with Rot-Weiss Essen and is thus the longest-serving player in the squad of the third division club. He has played a total of 103 competitive matches (21 goals, 22 assists) for Rot-Weiss. The Wuppertal-born player has a lot planned for the rest of the season in the 3rd Division: “I have used the break and will continue to attack. Then I hope that I will get my playing time again. I’m fit and looking forward to being on the pitch and playing. “
