The 1. FC Saarbrücken has not only lost the game at Rot-Weiss Essen (0:1), but also its centre forward. The 2022 season is over for him.
Adriano Grimaldi, centre forward of 1. FC Saarbrücken, was substituted after 54 minutes in the FCS defeat at Rot-Weiss Essen (0:1). Now the reason is clear.
The 31-year-old suffered a muscle bundle injury and will miss Saarbrücken for up to two months. This means that the 2022 season – the 3rd division will be suspended from 15 November due to the World Cup in Qatar – is over. This was confirmed by 1. FC Saarbrücken.
In nine appearances so far this season, Grimaldi has scored two goals. The German-Italian has already scored for clubs such as Preußen Münster, VfL Osnabrück and KFC Uerdingen. He has been under contract with 1. FC Saarbrücken since 1 July 2021 and has played 34 competitive matches so far, in which he has scored 13 goals.
