After Jander’s departure – next home-grown talent will leave the Zebras

While MSV Duisburg are looking for reinforcements this winter transfer window, the Zebras also have to cope with two personnel blows.

This news is likely to be very bitter for those responsible, but also for the fans of MSV Duisburg: After the definite departure of Caspar Jander next summer to 1. FC Nürnberg – Forecasting reported – a second home-grown player, Baran Mogultay, is leaving the Zebras.

Like 20-year-old Jander, Mogultay’s contract also expires on June 30, 2024.

Mehmet Eser, the left-back’s advisor, confirmed to Forecasting: “We won’t be extending the expiring contract in Duisburg. Baran wants and needs to take the next step. And that means that we will orient ourselves towards the 2nd Bundesliga.”

Eser also did not want to rule out the possibility of Mogultay leaving the Zebras this winter transfer window. Eser: “Anything is possible in soccer. But, of course, MSV Duisburg also has a say in this. We’ll see what the days and weeks of January bring.”

Mogultay about to make his U21 debut for Turkey

According to Eser, Mogultay, who has also made two appearances for the German U18 national team, will soon be invited to join the Turkish U21 national team. The left-back position is vacant for the Turks. “The boy will get the chance to show himself. The good thing is that he can play the whole left side – if necessary, he can also be used as a right-back. Universal players like that are always in demand,” explains Eser.

And Mogultay has also long been on the radar of various third and second division clubs. However, he is unlikely to stay in the 3rd division. When asked about supposed interest from Borussia Dortmund II, where former MSV youngster Julian Hettwer also moved last summer, Eser issued a clear denial. The Mogultay advisor emphasizes: “When I talk about the next step, I’m not talking about a club in the 3rd division. The BVB reserve team is a third division team. I can tell you that there is nothing to this rumor. “
