Only one day after the sudden departure of Rene Lewejohann, SV Scherpenberg has reacted and presented a successor. It is a former Bundesliga professional.
SV Scherpenberg had actually planned to have Rene Lewejohann as head coach for the 2024/2025 national league season. The club announced this back in mid-April.
Lewejohann also prevailed over Christian Mikolajczak at the time. But now he is back in the game in Scherpenberg. Because, as Forecasting reported on Monday (June 10), Lewejohann is leaving Scherpenberg again – without ever having stood on the SVS touchline. His new goal: the role of assistant coach at regional league club KFC Uerdingen.
And Mikolajczak? He will be Lewejohann’s successor in Scherpenberg and will therefore still be SVS coach for the new season. “We had to and did react quickly. I made a few phone calls on Monday and Tuesday and then decided relatively quickly in favor of Christian Mikolajczak,” Sven Schützek told Forecasting.
The 47-year-old sporting director of the Moers regional league club went on to explain: “Mikolajczak was already a hot candidate for us a few weeks ago. But we decided in favor of Lewejohann. Christian took note of that in sporting terms. I liked that. Now we’ve talked again and I’ve felt that fire again. We need a coach like that: someone who is on fire for the job and who simply wants to succeed. I have that feeling with “Micky”. “
The club definitely has the potential for the Oberliga. We want to complete a very good preparation, which should be the foundation for a great season. We get started in three weeks
Christian Mikolajczak
Mikolajczak lives just five minutes away from the SV Scherpenberg pitch and is very excited about his new role. Most recently, he worked in Essen at district league club Vogelheimer SV. “It’s nice to get out of Essen for a change. SV Scherpenberg is a home game for me. Right on the doorstep. I can draw even more energy from it. It’s a really great challenge. The pitch is good, the financial conditions are good and the squad is well put together. The club definitely has the potential for the Oberliga. We want to complete a very good preparation, which should be the foundation for a great season. We’ll get started in three weeks,” the former professional told Forecasting.
On Wednesday, June 12, Mikolajczak will first go on a 14-day vacation in Turkey. “That was a nice present before the vacation (laughs),” says the former FC Schalke 04 player happily.
The 43-year-old Mikolajczak, who made 13 Bundesliga appearances as well as 152 appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga, was under contract with clubs such as FC Schalke 04, Dynamo Dresden, LR (later Rot Weiss) Ahlen, FSV Frankfurt, Hannover 96 and Holstein Kiel. He has previously worked as a coach for TuS Essen-West 81, FSV Duisburg, VfB Speldorf, FC Kray and Vogelheimer SV. Now, SV Scherpenberg is the next coaching position for the professional firefighter
