After long breaks: Two BVB pros are back in training

Borussia Dortmund has been struggling with injury worries this season. Two professionals have at least returned to the training pitch.

There is not much going on at Borussia Dortmund’s training ground at the moment. Eleven professionals are currently at the World Cup in Qatar, the remaining professional players are taking part in a marketing trip through Southeast Asia.

But one duo trained in Dortmund-Brackel on Saturday. Mahmoud Dahoud and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens have been back on the pitch since Saturday after lengthy injury breaks and are working on their comeback. BVB showed this in a video published on social media. The video shows the professionals doing exercises with a trainer and dribbling over obstacles.

Offensive youngster Bynoe-Gittens (18) and central midfielder Dahoud (26) have been missing from BVB for many weeks. Both suffered shoulder injuries and had to undergo surgery. Dahoud has already missed 19 games, Bynoe-Gittens has been out for 17 games so far.

And BVB coach Edin Terzic had to do without many more professionals during the mixed first half of the season. In addition to Dahoud and Bynoe-Gittens, captain Marco Reus (ankle inflammation), Sebastien Haller (testicular cancer), Mateu Morey (knee surgery), Marius Wolf (balance disorder), Tom Rothe (bone sprain) and Anthony Modeste (Leisen surgery) are currently on the injured list.
