Rot-Weiss Essen breathes a sigh of relief after its 4-0 victory. A new week of training begins. These will be the last working days for a deserving RWE employee.
Many people work at Rot-Weiss Essen whose faces may be a little inconspicuous and who are not so much in the public eye or the focus of the fans. But these employees are very important for the functioning of the club.
This also applies to Niclas Pieper. The 32-year-old has been working for Rot-Weiss Essen since October 1, 2015. Pieper started as an intern before joining the marketing department at Hafenstraße on a permanent basis on July 1, 2016. On January 1, 2019, he moved to the position of assistant to the management.
The Dortmund native has been press spokesman for Rot-Weiss Essen since July 1, 2020. Pieper will continue in this role for another week before leaving RWE after the game in Aue. According to information obtained by this editorial team, Pieper handed in his notice after more than nine years at Hafenstraße. When asked by RS, Pieper declined to comment on his departure. It is not yet known where Pieper will go next.
Alexander Rang, member of the executive board and responsible for communications, declined to comment on the matter when asked.
Niclas Pieper is a reliable partner with whom I work very closely and trust. I hold him in high regard – both as a person and in his role as press spokesman. I wish him all the best for his personal and professional future.
Christoph Dabrowski
Pieper is the successor to Rainer Koch, former marketing employee, sales representatives Daniel Elzer and Max Hinterlang, and Noah Peil and Alexander Kubicki, who were both responsible for Rot-Weiss Essen’s media department alongside Pieper in the past, the next long-standing and highly deserving employee of Rot-Weiss Essen to leave the club in or during the 2024/2025 season.
Coach Dabrowski also wanted to comment on Pieper’s departure, which was also bitter for him. The 46-year-old told our editorial team: “Niclas Pieper is a reliable partner for me, with whom I work very closely and trust. I hold him in high regard – both as a person and in his role as press spokesman. I wish him all the best for his personal and professional future.”
