After more than nine years, RWE’s press officer is leaving

Rot-Weiss Essen takes a deep breath after the 4-0 win. It’s the start of a new training week. These will be the last working days of a valued RWE employee.

Many people work at Rot-Weiss Essen, and their faces may be a little inconspicuous and not so much in the focus of the public or the fans. But these employees are very important for the club to function.

This also applies to Niclas Pieper. The 32-year-old has been working for Rot-Weiss Essen since October 1, 2015. Pieper was initially an intern before joining the marketing department on Hafenstrasse on a permanent basis from July 1, 2016. He then took on the role of assistant to the management from January 1, 2019.

Since July 1, 2020, the Dortmund-born Pieper has been the press officer at Rot-Weiss Essen. He will continue in this role for another week before he is no longer an RWE employee after the game in Aue. According to information obtained by this editorial team, Pieper handed in his notice after more than nine years at Hafenstraße. When asked by RS, the outgoing Pieper did not want to comment on his resignation. It is still unknown where Pieper will go.

Alexander Rang, board member and responsible for communication, did not want to comment on the subject when asked.

Niclas Pieper is a reliable partner for me, with whom I work very closely and trustingly. I value him very much – as a person and also in his role as press officer. I wish him only the very best for his personal and professional future

Christoph Dabrowski

Pieper is after Rainer Koch, former marketing employee, the sales representatives Daniel Elzer and Max Hinterlang as well as Noah Peil and Alexander Kubicki, both of whom were responsible for the red and white media department with Pieper in the past white media department were responsible, the next long-standing and very deserving employee of Red-White Essen, who left the club in or out of the 2024/2025 season.

Coach Dabrowski also wanted to comment on Pieper’s departure, which was also bitter for him. The 46-year-old told our editorial team: “Niclas Pieper is a reliable partner for me, with whom I work very closely and trustingly. I value him very much – as a person and also in his role as press officer. I wish him all the best for his personal and professional future.”
