Fans of Rot-Weiß Oberhausen demand the sacking of the coach before kick-off against Lippstadt and then watch RWO squander a 1:0 lead.
The atmosphere at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen could hardly have been more tense before kick-off of the home match against SV Lippstadt. The RWO fans erected a banner behind the goal that read “Nowak out”. An appeal against the coach, which was repeated with loud shouts.
90 minutes later, the frustration was mounting. After the 0:0 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach II, Oberhausen had to accept their second draw (1:1) against a relegation candidate within a few days. Sven Kreyer had defied the unrest early on with a shot from the edge of the box to make it 1-0. Shortly afterwards, he narrowly missed making it 2-0 after being played in by Moritz Stoppelkamp. The visitors initially allowed themselves to be completely pinned back by Oberhausen
Only after half an hour did Lippstadt become more courageous. Lars Holtkamp had the best chance to make it 1:1 after winning one of the many duels in midfield, but failed to cross in front of goal for the free-standing Viktor Maier (42′).
RWO came out of the break more active, but SVL soon became bolder again. The reward? The 1:1 through Maier. A loss of possession, followed by a frighteningly passive attitude in the Oberhausen defense, made it possible (57′).
RWO then had an opportunity, but Sebastian Mai shot over (71′), but shortly afterwards Robin Benz created the next chance for the visitors. The keeper was only just able to clear on the line (74′).
SV Lippstadt were closer to victory than the home side in the closing stages, but Benz was able to keep a clean sheet. However, the 1:1 in Oberhausen is unlikely to have provided any peace and quiet
