FSV Duisburg not only has to build a new team after relegation from the national league. There is also a change at the top.
Erol Ayar is no longer president of the district league club FSV Duisburg. He was in charge of the Duisburg club for almost ten years. Last season, the club had to cope with relegation from the Lower Rhine regional league.
There were only six wins and 21 points, but a whopping 140 goals conceded – even SV Hönnepel-Niedermörmter conceded fewer, although the relegated team only managed one win.
Now a new start in the district league is on the cards – without the president, who emphasized in a statement: “I would like to announce my resignation as president of the FSV Duisburg soccer club with immediate effect. After careful consideration and for important family and professional reasons, I have decided that it is best for my family and my company that I step down from this responsible position. Unfortunately, the increasing demands of my job no longer leave me enough time to devote myself fully to the extensive tasks and responsibilities that come with the office of President.”
It has been “an honor” for him to “serve” the club. He will now remain with FSV in the role of Honorary President, proud of what FSV has achieved, especially in the youth sector.
Looking to the future, Ayar hopes: “I hope that the club will continue to grow in the future and make the necessary changes to remain successful. Of course, I will be available to the club during the transition phase to ensure that everything runs smoothly and to assist in the search for a suitable successor.”
