TSV 1860 Munich has proven its good form and defeated the next top team.
TSV 1860 Munich can breathe a sigh of relief after their second consecutive home win. After beating Rot-Weiss Essen 2-0, the Lions also won the Bavarian derby against FC Ingolstadt 3-1. Two wins against two teams in the promotion hunt.
After three wins and three draws from six games in the new year under new coach Argirios Giannikis, who also once coached RWE, the Lions are now eight points clear of 17th place. “We still have a long way to go, we’ll stay focused and concentrated,” Giannikis emphasized after the win over FCI on “Magenta TV”.
Fynn Lakenmacher (15th), an own goal from Marius Funk (58th) and Leroy Kwadwo (90th + 1) ensured the victory for Munich. Jannik Mause (71st /penalty kick) brought Ingolstadt, which missed the jump to fourth place, in between.
Hallesche FC suffered a setback in the battle against relegation with a 2-3 (2-2) defeat to Erzgebirge Aue. The hosts took the lead twice, but Aue struck back each time. After Jannes Vollert was sent off for a professional foul (65′), Marvin Stefaniak converted the resulting penalty (66′) to give Aue the win.
Halle remains in 16th place with only one point ahead of Waldhof Mannheim in 17th place in danger of relegation. Behind them lurk VfB Lübeck (22 points) and MSV Duisburg (20). Bottom-placed SC Freiburg II are already out of the running with only ten points.
The game between 1. FC Saarbrücken and SpVgg Unterhaching scheduled for Sunday at 7:30 p.m. was canceled on Thursday due to the desolate turf at the Ludwigspark Stadium, just like the hosts’ DFB Cup quarter-final against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Thursday. wozi with sid
