Sportfreunde Baumberg continue to clarify their personnel situation. After striker Robin Hömig, the regular keeper has now also committed himself to the Oberliga leaders.
Daniel Schwabke will also be entering his seventh year with Sportfreunde Baumberg. As the league leaders of the Oberliga Niederrhein announced, the goalkeeper has extended his contract.
Coach Salah El Halimi was delighted with the next addition to his squad. “Daniel Schwabke’s contract extension is great news for the team. He is an important pillar in our defense and has proven several times this season that we can rely on him,” he praised.
He continued: “His performances on the pitch are outstanding and I look forward to continuing to work with him. His commitment and professionalism are exemplary for the team and I am sure that he will continue to make important contributions to the team’s success in the future.”
Schwabke has played 20 Oberliga games this season for Sportfreunde Baumberg, who are sitting out this weekend. The 34-year-old has kept a clean sheet seven times
“With Daniel, we have extended another important pillar of our sporting success in the long term. He not only stands out with his very good performance in the Oberliga, but is also a sporting role model for our young players in Baumberg. In the meantime, he has also become a resident of beautiful Baumberg. I’m delighted about that,” said Jürgen Schick, first chairman of Sportfreunde.
Schwabke was born in Haldensleben in the GDR. With the exception of a stint at SV Santersleben in Saxony-Anhalt, Schwabke has been playing in North Rhine-Westphalia since the summer of 2007. He has already played for 1. FC Köln, Rot-Weiss Essen and KFC Uerdingen.
Schwabke is the next key player to extend his contract with Sportfreunde in the space of just a few days. Previously, the extremely dangerous attacker Robin Hömig had already made his commitment. Two strong signs that Sportfreunde Baumberg have set despite having to forgo the Regionalliga West
