Alemannia Aachen has settled coaching question

Regional league football club Alemannia Aachen has made a decision on its coach. Interim solution Helge Hohl will become head coach.

The previous interim solution Helge Hohl will remain coach of Alemannia Aachen and sign a contract until 30.06.2024, the regional league club announced on Friday evening.

Along with Hohl, co-coach Gabriele Di Benedetto was also given a contract until 2024. The sporting director’s duties will now be split between managing director Sascha Eller and Hohl. Di Benedetto’s previous position as youth sports director will be filled in the future.

The Kaiserstädter had parted ways with the previous coach Fuat Kilic in mid-October. Hohl picked up 18 of 24 points in the eight league games that followed and led Alemannia to fourth place in the Regionalliga West, one point behind second-placed Wuppertaler SV.

Alemannia Aachen relies on continuity

“Helge and the function team have done a very good job with the team in the last few weeks and have put a lot of time and heart and soul into the tasks. In the discussions, we decided together that the best thing for the club’s goals is to continue working with calm and continuity instead of bringing in new people. I am delighted that the path will now be continued together,” said Aachen’s managing director Eller.

Commenting on his permanent appointment, Hohl said: “First of all, I would like to thank you for the trust you have placed in me as a person. In the last few weeks I have realised even more what is possible at this club with the team, the people involved, the sponsors and above all the fans. I’m looking forward to the challenge of confirming the positive trend and seeing what we can achieve together. “
