Alemannia Aachen plays against RWE in this special jersey

Three games and three wins. Alemannia Aachen is still undefeated against RWE in the 3rd division. On Sunday, the two teams will meet again—at the almost sold-out Tivoli.

When Rot-Weiss Essen and Alemannia Aachen meet, there’s always something going on. Sold-out stadiums, high emotions.

And most recently, the better outcome for Aachen, who also won the first leg in Essen. The score was 3-2 at Hafenstraße. Curiously, Aachen scored three penalties, all of which were confidently converted by Lars Gindorf. For RWE, it was one of the darkest hours of the season, for Aachen a highlight. This is set to be repeated on Sunday (4:30 p.m.) when RWE travels to the almost sold-out Tivoli.

And Alemannia has come up with something special for this match: the team will be wearing their historic special jersey. The jersey pays homage to the most formative chapters in the club’s history: classic black meets golden accents and details that embody tradition and pride. The message behind it: pride in the past, passion for the present.

Equipment supplier Capelli Sport also emphasizes the special significance of the jersey. “From the very first design idea, it was important to us to work with Alemannia Aachen to create a special historical jersey that best reflects the identity, tradition, and values of the club. With a lot of passion, we have created a unique jersey that captures the club’s successful moments and expresses the pride of Alemannia, its fans, and the city of Aachen. I am very much looking forward to seeing the team on the pitch in this special jersey,” explains Kay Mourheg, President of Capelli Sport EMEA.

Looking at the record, it is striking that the two clubs have already faced each other more than 90 times. In the 3rd division, all three games went to Aachen, with RWE still waiting for its first point there. And both the 2-3 defeat in the first leg and the 0-2 defeat in January 2025 were extremely poor performances by Rot-Weiss Essen.
