Alemannia Aachen won the catch-up match against Fortuna Düsseldorf II 1-0 in the Regionalliga West. The Kaiserstadt side are now third in the table.
Alemannia Aachen started the rest of the Regionalliga West season with a 1-0 win. Coach Helge Hohl’s team celebrated a 1:0 victory in the home make-up game against Fortuna Düsseldorf’s U23.
Jannik Mause scored the golden goal of the day after 17 minutes. Elsamed Ramaj had tipped the ball from the byline into the penalty area to Mause, whose low shot hit the net unstoppable for Fortuna keeper Leon Klußmann.
The win moves Alemannia up to third place in the table, level on points with Borussia Mönchengladbach’s U23. The gap to league leader Preußen Münster, however, is still eight points. Fortuna Düsseldorf II, in 12th place, are still in a reasonably reassuring position above the line. They are three points ahead of the second team of 1. FC Köln.
On Saturday, 1. FC Bocholt will play a catch-up match at home against Fortuna Köln. The other catch-up games between Lippstadt and Schalke II (22 February, 7pm), Rödinghausen against Fortuna Köln (25 March, 2pm) and Bocholt against Preußen Münster (25 March, 2pm) will take place later in the year.
The first regular matchday will then take place in a week’s time. There, Alemannia Aachen will directly face the league leader and have to travel to SC Preußen Münster. Fortuna Düsseldorf’s U23 will face second-placed Gladbach II. For both teams, the match on Friday evening was an ideal indicator for the two top matches next week.
