Alemannia were offered Bocholt players – “The typical consultant games”

Alemannia Aachen are six points clear in first place with nine rounds of the season to go – ahead of Bocholt. Suddenly, Alemannia are being offered players from their closest rivals.

It is not uncommon in the soccer business for there to be teasing between two clubs competing for the same goal towards the end of the season. This is also the case in the Regionalliga West.

Marcel Moberz, head of the supervisory board of league leaders Alemannia Aachen, is known for communicating a lot with the Aachen fans via Facebook and for being extremely transparent about everything that happens around Alemannia. This is also the case when it comes to potential new signings.

A Moberz post on Wednesday – March 13, 2024 – caused a bit of a stir. Moberz wrote on Facebook: “Briefly to the rumor mill, because we were often asked about three players from Bocholt due to a posting (I didn’t see it myself). Yes, we’ve already been offered various players from Bocholt, but I think that’s normal after such a strong season for Bocholt so far and that’s just what consultants do. No, we have not been active. We have to achieve our goals first, that’s what counts. After that, what counts is information from Sascha Eller and Erdal Celik, nothing else.”

As a reminder: 1. FC Bocholt are six points behind Alemannia Aachen nine matchdays before the end of the season. It should be clear that such statements from the Aachen AR boss at the Hünting do not go down well at all

When the Aacheners make something like that public, it also proves that they are a bit nervous and always look towards Bocholt. We’ve worked hard to achieve this status.

Christopher Schorch

Forecasting asked Christopher Schorch, Bocholt’s managing director of sport, on Wednesday evening. He became clear.

Schorch: “I was also sent this and I really wonder what it’s all about? No player has approached me and told me that he wants to move to Aachen. That would also be absurd at this point in time. These are probably the typical consultant games. Somehow that also speaks for our performance and that of the boys if they are in demand elsewhere.”

He added towards Moberz: “But I really wonder what a head of the supervisory board wants to achieve with such statements? I can’t quite understand that. In any case, the coach and the head of sport, in this case myself, are responsible for player transfers. The head of the supervisory board doesn’t choose them for us. But maybe things work differently in Aachen. And: if Aachen make something like this public, then it also proves that they are a bit nervous and always look towards Bocholt. We’ve worked hard to achieve this status. We’ll now see what the last nine matchdays bring. In contrast to Aachen, we’ve never said that we absolutely want to get promoted. We’re just happy that we’ve got into this situation. “
