What an embarrassment. VfB Frohnhausen lost 2:10 against FSV Duisburg. Issam Said is still furious one day after the game.
As if VfB Frohnhausen didn’t already have enough problems in the Landesliga Niederrhein 2, they suffered a huge 2:10 defeat against a direct relegation candidate who had seven points less in their account before the matchday.
FSV Duisburg seemed to be a real superior force for VfB last Sunday. Conceding ten goals against a team that had only picked up 20 points from their previous 26 games left the coach, who we spoke to the day after the debacle, shaking his head.
Issam Said on…
… the debacle against FSV Duisburg: “It was underground. There really wasn’t anyone who was anywhere near normal form. Even Issa Issa couldn’t get anything going, but he can’t do everything on his own. We stood on guard and applauded every move Duisburg made. That was really shitty. I was ashamed – for the club, for the team. I couldn’t look any spectator in the face after the final whistle. That was the most disappointing moment of my coaching career. Nobody was really willing to perform. Some of them were running around as if they were in the kitchen.”
… … his match plan: “I had to improvise a lot, let players play on painkillers and also gambled a little. I made a mistake there too and we got completely smashed on the pitch. Nevertheless, you can’t let something like that happen against FSV Duisburg, who, with all due respect, have already conceded over 80 goals.”
… the prospects in the fight for class: “When you concede such a defeat in a game like that, everyone has to question themselves. I haven’t thought about staying in the league for a long time. If the team doesn’t fight, you can do as much as you want as a coach, you’ll lose the war anyway. The team has let me and the club down.”
… the relegation scenario: “We have to prepare for that. Nobody is fighting back. They’re all wannabes. We all have to shut up and see if everyone is doing everything for the club.”
… the upcoming opponent SV Budberg: “I’m already dreading it. We’ll just have to see if we can steal a point somehow. “
