Eight FC Schalke 04 fans are allowed to design a special jersey for a second-round match. This was announced by the club on Thursday evening.
FC Schalke 04 is looking for eight 18- to 25-year-old members to design a jersey for a second-round match. For which game is still open. The jersey will then be sold in limited quantities and part of the proceeds donated to a good cause. The sponsors Veltins and Hülsta will waive the imprint for this match.
“We are very much looking forward to the input of our young supporters, who only at the Youth Congress again impressively proved with what great passion they can enrich our club with innovative ideas. We want to give voice, relevance and visibility to those who will be instrumental in shaping the club’s future,” said Chief Sports Officer Peter Knäbel. “Everyone agrees that with the involvement of our young members we will design an unprecedented jersey full of creativity,” added Chief Financial Officer Christina Rühl-Hamers. By “all” she meant, for example, the sponsors.
Interested members can apply until 6 September. On 15 and 16 September, they will work on the jersey with Adidas experts in a design workshop in Herzogenaurach. Finally, they will attend the second division match against Magdeburg.
By the way: The Königsblauen are copying an action of their neighbour Borussia Dortmund in a slightly different form. In 2022, 15,000 BVB fans submitted designs to a design competition, from which a jury selected the nine favourites. On the BVB homepage, fans voted for their favourite design, which became the home jersey for the current 2023/24 season.
Differences to the Schalk campaign: The Königsblauen focus on members and a defined age group – and the jersey is developed in the workshop, there is no selection option at the end.
