That was quick: At the beginning of the week, Kickers Offenbach announced the departure of their previous coach, Kristijan Glibo. His successor has now been introduced.
Kickers Offenbach, representing the Southwest Regional League, has signed Mark Zimmermann as their new head coach until the end of the current season.
The 52-year-old takes over sporting responsibility at OFC with immediate effect, succeeding Kristijan Glibo. OFC had only parted ways with Glibo on Monday (March 9, 2026). The 43-year-old had been OFC coach for just 24 competitive games, achieving an average of 1.42 points per game.
Glibo’s successor Zimmermann has many years of experience in German professional soccer. As a former striker, he played in both the 1st Bundesliga and the 2nd Bundesliga, and as a coach he started with FC Carl Zeiss Jena, the club where he ended his active career. With Jena, he achieved promotion to the 3. Liga in the 2016/17 season after his team prevailed against Viktoria Köln in the promotion round. After four years as head coach of 1. FC Köln’s second team in the Regionalliga West, he was most recently under contract with Halleschen FC. In the 2024/25 season, he finished second in the Regionalliga Nordost with Halle behind Lok Leipzig, collecting 70 points. His team achieved an average points haul of 2.06 points per game.
Zimmermann will take over the OFC team with immediate effect and will lead his first training session with the team on Thursday (March 12).
OFC sporting director Martin Pieckenhagen says: “We are very pleased that we can present such a quick and suitable solution with Mark Zimmermann in what is a challenging phase for the club. Mark stands for down-to-earthness, ambition, communication, and stability, which will do our team a lot of good.”
The Kickers have been playing in the Regionalliga Südwest for over a decade and are lagging behind their own expectations. For years, the traditional Hessian club, which plays at the cult venue Stadion am Bieberer Berg, has been trying to advance to the 3rd league. In the current season, Offenbach are in 14th place – a potential relegation spot.
This means that if two Southwest clubs are relegated from the 3rd league, the Kickers would be relegated to the Hessenliga. Currently, however, only SSV Ulm 1846, the Southwest representative in the 3rd league, is in a relegation spot.
