After the clear derby defeat for Hamburger SV, SC Paderborn wanted to move past them on Sunday. Thanks in part to Schalke loanee Marvin Pieringer, they succeeded.
Darmstadt 98 and SC Paderborn took advantage of Hamburger SV’s derby slip-up and moved past the promotion favourites at the top of the second division. After new league leader Darmstadt’s 2-1 (0-1) win at Karlsruher SC on Saturday, Paderborn beat SV Sandhausen 3-0 (1-0) and climbed to second place, two points behind the leaders.
Salke loanee Pieringer puts SCP in the lead
On Friday evening, HSV lost the city duel against FC St. Pauli 0:3 (0:0), which was overshadowed by a massive police operation, and is tied for third place with Paderborn. Already five points behind is 1. FC Heidenheim after the 1:3 (1:1) at Holstein Kiel. In Sunday’s third match, Jahn Regensburg surprisingly won 3:0 (1:0) at 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
In Paderborn, Marvin Pieringer (10.) with his seventh goal of the season and Robert Leipertz (47.) with his fourth goal in the last five games set the course for the sixth home victory. Jannis Heuer (54th) finally made everything clear.
Ex-Schalker Skrzybski continues to excel in Kiel
Double player Steven Skrzybski (45./51.) with his goals number seven and eight this season made Kiel rejoice. Kwasi Okyere Wriedt (66th) also scored for the Störche. Heidenheim had taken the lead through Denis Thomalla (31st), but could not prevent their first defeat in eight games.
Andreas Albers (8/57) was the hero with his two goals for Regensburg, who had won only one of their previous nine league games. Prince Osei Owusu (87th) scored the final goal. Kaan Caliskaner, the visiting professional, was also unlucky with two aluminium goals (6th/11th). FCK’s second defeat of the season broke their draw streak after six matches.
